Q6: What measures have been put in place to stop the Bhopal diasater happeniin the future?

The safety measures that could have prevented the leak, or minimised the death toll were found to be either malfunctioning or totally missing at the Bhopal plant. Today the failure of the official system of health care contributes largely to the medical disaster in Bhopal. While the Indian Government claimed that 350,000 people were affected, the company said that only 25,000 of these were eligible for any relief whatsoever. After the disaster happened an independent clean up of the Bhopal site on November 25th 2002 was stopped by the Bhopal police. It took three years to review the relief measures for the victims of 1984 Bhopal tragedy. In July 9, 2004 the centre government set up the (GoM)-Group of Ministers to monitor and impement the relief rehabilitation and help for victims.
